30TH STREET STATION | PHILADELPHIA, PENNSYLVANIA
The National Railroad Passenger Corporation (“Amtrak”) is a private corporation which operates a national passenger rail system. Amtrak owns 30th Street Station, Philadelphia’s grand railroad terminal and the central point in the nation’s second busiest intermodal transportation network. A massive renovation of the historic renovation was completed in 1991 and over $15 million of interior and infrastructural upgrades have occurred since then. Specific interior projects have included completion of South Concourse retail spaces, rehabilitation of fire damage and reconstruction of SEPTA commuter service area. Infrastructural upgrades have included repairs to concrete and steel structures surrounding the Station, replacement of expansion joints and upgrading plaza finishes.
