SERV's Ujima Village completes occupancy in spring of 2004

EWING, NEW JERSEY - AEGIS PROPERTY GROUP‘s Development Management Group is pleased to announce the completion of another exciting project, Ujima Village, a 52-bed Senior Housing Facility located in Ewing, New Jersey.
 
Occupancy began on December 31, 2003 and the facility was completely occupied by spring of 2004. Ujima Village was developed in partnership between SERV Behavioral Health Systems, Inc. (“SERV”), a not-for-profit corporation that provides quality services and cost effective community housing alternatives to its clients throughout New Jersey and Ujima Christian Ministries, a community based church. The facility is located at the cross-roads of Pennington and Parkway Avenues and it includes apartments in the restored one-hundred-year old “Odd Fellows Building,” which had long been a home for the underprivileged in the area.
 
Ujima Village hosted its grand opening in March 30, 2004, a well attended event, where numerous representatives from local, county and state governments celebrated this welcome community enhancement ant another addition to New Jersey’s affordable housing supply. Dedication speakers included: President/CEO of SERV Behavioral Health System, Gary Van Nostrand; Pastor of Ujima Christian Ministry, Reverend John Norwood; Director of Housing and Community Resources, Michelle Richardson; Mercer County Executive, Brian Hughes; New Jersey State Senator, Shirley Turner; Mayor of Ewing Township, Wendell Pribila and Former Mercer County Executive, Robert Prunetti.
 
Major funding support was provided by the New Jersey Housing and Mortgage Finance Agency, New Jersey Department of Community Affairs, Federal Home Loan Bank of New York, Mercer County Executive and Board of Chosen Freeholders and The Reinvestment Fund. The project was designed by Johnson-Jones Architects of Princeton, NJ and constructed by Daniel J. Keating Construction of Narberth, PA. James L. Price, Michael McLane and Maleda Berhane of Aegis Property Group were responsible for this assignment.
 
AEGIS PROPERTY GROUP was retained to lead the preconstruction, construction and occupancy phases of this Project.
