Philadelphia, PA - October 6, 2009 - The Union League of Philadelphia celebrated the opening of the Marble Dining Room restaurants 1862 by Martin Hamann and Founders on Sunday, October 4, with a ribbon cutting ceremony and dinner. Both restaurants are open only to members of the Union League and their guests.
Formerly North Marble, 1862 by Martin Hamann is being hailed as the most elite dining venue in Philadelphia. Led by head chef Martin Hamann, a 25 year veteran of the Four Seasons, the impressive finishing kitchen with floor to ceiling glass panes is visible from the dining room closest to it, complete with chef’s tables to accommodate parties of ten. There is also a section housing a custom designed wine vault housing 400 plus bottles with leather interior, as well as a sophisticated bar featuring burnished metals, antique glass and banquette seating.
1862 is open for lunch and dinner with a menu set to change seasonally that will incorporate fresh local products.
Founders is open for breakfast and lunch, and was designed with club members in mind. It features club table seating and a relaxed atmosphere reinforced with rich, warm hues.
Seven portraits of the League’s founders reside in this room, lending to its name.
